My First Encounter with a Retro Keyboard – And a Big Question Mark!
Hey everyone! I’m Lena, and I’ve been living in Berlin for about six months now. It’s amazing, seriously – the food, the art, the energy… but let’s be honest, figuring out everything is a challenge. I’m working as a freelance translator, which is good, but sometimes it’s quiet and I just need something to keep my mind occupied. That’s where this happened…
Hallo Lisa! What is this thing?
I was just browsing on Amazon – you know how it is, a little procrastination never hurt anyone – when I saw this keyboard. It’s called the “SoundCore Bluetooth Enormous Improved Protection.” Sounds a bit much, right? The picture showed a really cool-looking keyboard with a retro design. It had these chunky keys and a serious vintage vibe. I was instantly drawn to it.
I showed it to Lisa, my colleague from the translation agency, and she said, “Hallo! Hast du schon mal von diesem Kisnt KN85 Keyboard gehört?” (Hi! Have you ever heard of this Kisnt KN85 keyboard?). I said, “Nein, was ist das denn?” (No, what is that?).
Decoding the Retro Tech
I clicked on the link, and it’s a full-on retro keyboard – seriously. It has mechanical keys, which I’d never really used before, and it’s wireless. The description said they give you a better feeling when you type, and they’re super durable. And the best part? It connects wirelessly! I hate cables. Seriously, I’ve spent a ridiculous amount of time untangling them.
“Drahtlos ist super!” (Wireless is great!), I shouted to Lisa.
The Price Tag – Ouch!
Then I checked the price. I thought I saw it for 250 Euros. “Sag mal, gefällt dir das Design?” (Say, do you like the design?), I asked Lisa. “Oh, das sieht ja cool aus!” (Oh, that looks really cool!). “Ich liebe Retro-Stile” (I love retro styles!).
But then I realised… 250 Euros! That’s a lot of money, even for a keyboard. “Ja, und wie viel kostet das denn?” (Yes, and how much does it cost?) I asked. I figured it was a bit too much.
Mechanical Keys: The Explanation
Lisa explained a little more about the mechanical keys. “Ja, die sagen, die geben ein besseres Gefühl beim Tippen und sind auch sehr robust.” (Yes, they say they give a better feeling when you type and are also very robust). She said the regular keys I’m used to feel a little mushy, and these are supposed to be much more solid. It’s a bit confusing, I admit.
My Thoughts (and a Question Mark)
I looked at the Amazon page again. It looked so cool. But honestly, I’m still trying to figure out if it’s really worth the investment. “Hmm, interessant. Ich muss mich mal darüber informieren.” (Hmm, interesting. I need to find out more about it).
I’m thinking about getting a new laptop soon, and this keyboard could be a good addition. But 250 Euros… “Vielleicht ist es ja ein tolles Keyboard!” (Maybe it’s a great keyboard!). “Aber ich bin ja noch am Überlegen, ob ich wirklich so viel Geld ausgeben soll.” (But I’m still considering whether I really want to spend so much money).
