Starting a Conversation – Greetings & Introductions

Before diving into talking about yourself, you need some foundational greetings! Here are some useful phrases:

• おはようございます (Ohayou gozaimasu) – Good morning
• こんにちは (Konnichiwa) – Hello / Good afternoon
• こんばんは (Konbanwa) – Good evening
• はじめまして (Hajimemashite) – Nice to meet you
• どうぞよろしく (Douzo yoroshiku) – Pleased to meet you (often said after “Hajimemashite”)

Example Dialogue:

A: こんにちは！(Konnichiwa!) - Hello!
