My Journey into AI – And Why I’m Seriously Considering Athereon

Hello Berlin! A New Challenge

Okay, so things are… intense. Moving to Berlin six months ago was amazing – the energy, the street art, the sheer weirdness of it all. But finding a job that actually fits what I’m good at, and what I want to do, has been a bit of a rollercoaster. I’m originally from Atlanta, USA, and I’ve been plugging away at learning German, mostly through Duolingo and trying to eavesdrop on conversations in cafes – it’s a crash course, let me tell you! I’m really trying to integrate, you know? “Wie geht’s?” is getting a lot easier now, although I still butcher the pronunciation.

I stumbled across this job posting for Athereon – seriously, it was the first one I actually read properly. It started with “Hallo! Habt ihr schon was von der Stellenbeschreibung gelesen?” and I nearly scrolled right past. But the description for an AI-First Development role really grabbed me. I saw the mention of React, TypeScript, and – this is the big one – a focus on AI tools, and it sounded exactly like what I’d been searching for.

Decoding the Conversation

I was talking to my new colleague, Luke, about it, and he was completely understanding. He said something like, “Die klingt ja spannend, besonders der Teil mit dem AI-First Development. I shook my head. “Nicht wirklich,” I admitted. “But I’m a quick learner and ready to get to know it!” It’s a completely new area for me. I realized the software they’re developing is used every day by thousands of people. “Wichtiger ist doch, dass wir hier etwas Sinnvolles machen können, oder?” (More important is that we can do something meaningful, right?)

The Scale – It’s Seriously Cool

Luke added, “Absolut! Und die Software wird täglich von Zehntausenden genutzt – das ist schon was.” (Absolutely! And the software is used daily by tens of thousands – that’s impressive!). Honestly, that’s what really sold me. It’s not just some theoretical project; it’s something real, impacting a lot of people. I’m seriously considering applying.
