My First Keyboard Obsession: A Berlin Newbie’s Tale
It’s been six months since I moved to Berlin, and honestly, I’m still figuring things out. Finding a decent apartment was a nightmare, navigating the U-Bahn is… an experience, and learning German is, well, a process. But you know what’s actually making things a little more exciting? Trying to set up my workspace. I finally needed a new keyboard, and let me tell you, the German tech scene is surprisingly full of cool stuff.
Hallo! The Kisnt KN85 Keyboard
The whole thing started with Alice, a colleague from my design job. She was showing me this keyboard – the Kisnt KN85 – and she was totally obsessed. “Hallo! Hast du schon die neue Kisnt KN85 Tastatur gesehen?” she asked me, and I said, “Nein, noch nicht. Was ist das denn?” I genuinely didn’t know what it was. She described it as retro-looking, but modern with Bluetooth and mechanical keys, and honestly, I found it really cool.
I saw it on Amazon, and wow, it looked nice! “Sieht ja ganz nice aus!” Alice had said. I checked it out and it was definitely different. But then I realized – Bluetooth is… kind of a hassle for me. I’m a wired person, you know? “Aber Bluetooth ist mir ehrlich gesagt egal, ich spiele lieber mit Kabeln.” I think it’s just easier to manage.
The SoundCore Speaker Bonus
And get this – they were offering a SoundCore Bluetooth speaker with it! “Wow, ein Lautsprecher dazu? Das ist ja ein tolles Angebot!” I was really tempted. The description said it had “Enormous Improved Protection” and sounded super. It’s tempting to go fully wireless, especially with my awful apartment acoustics.
Negotiation and a Little Confusion
Then we got to the price. The keyboard itself was around 80 euros – which seemed a bit pricey. “Aber ich muss sagen, die Tastatur ist schon teuer.” I asked Alice. But the reviews were really good, and the speaker wasn’t exactly cheap either. “Und der Lautsprecher ist auch nicht günstig, aber wenn man beides zusammen kauft, ist es vielleicht ein guter Deal.” It felt like a good deal, but I was still thinking about it. “Hmm, vielleicht. Ich überlege noch.”
Mechanical Keys – What’s the Fuss?
The really interesting thing was the mechanical keys. Alice kept saying they were “echt gut” – really good. Apparently, the reviews were all about how satisfying they are to type on. “Aber die mechanischen Tasten sollen ja auch gut sein.” I’d never really used mechanical keys before. My old keyboard was just… a standard one. I’m starting to think about my setup a little more, like everyone else here.
A Little German Practice
I even tried to ask a shop assistant at Media Markt for more information. “Wie viel kostet die denn?” I asked, pointing to the keyboard. The assistant looked a little confused, but he told me the price and explained the benefits of the mechanical keys. “Es ist wichtig, dass man die richtige Tasten für sich findet,” he said. (It’s important to find the right keys for yourself.) That was a good reminder – I need to do my research!
Final Thoughts (For Now!)
I’m seriously considering ordering it tomorrow. “Ich bin überzeugt! Ich werde sie mir morgen bestellen.” I’m a little nervous about the expense, but those mechanical keys sound incredible. Maybe this will actually make my new Berlin apartment feel a bit more… homey. Now I just need to figure out how to properly translate “I need a new keyboard” into fluent German. I’m sure I’ll keep you updated.
