My First Keyboard Obsession: A Berlin Student’s Tale

Okay, so this is a bit embarrassing, but I’ve been completely fixated on keyboards lately. It sounds ridiculous, I know, but it started with a really frustrating experience. You know how Germans are about their things? Hast du eigentlich schon mal überlegt, eine neue Tastatur zu kaufen? Seriously, my old keyboard is basically a disaster. The keys stick, they don’t always register, and it just makes typing so annoying. I’m living in Kreuzberg, and even just trying to send a quick email feels like a battle.

The Quest for a Better Typing Experience

My friend Lena, she’s a student at Humboldt University, was telling me about her new keyboard. She was going on and on about it – this Kisnt KN85 Keyboard – and how amazing it was. She said she’d seen it online, and it looked pretty cool, especially the Retro Beige color. I thought, “Okay, maybe that’s an idea.” It’s a 75% layout, which apparently means it’s compact but still has all the important keys. Plus, it’s wireless! Bluetooth and 2.4GHz – that seemed seriously smart.

I started doing some research, and there were a lot of reviews. Most people were raving about the “Creamy Sound” and the RGB backlighting. It looked really cool, but they were also quite expensive, which is a bummer. I’m a student, so money is always tight. I was thinking, Stimmt, aber wenn sie so gut sind…

Exploring Options – Linear Switches? Seriously?

Then I stumbled across the mention of “Linear Switches.” Honestly, I didn’t really get it at first. Lena was talking about them, saying “It’s so smooth!” and “Just try it!” I’m not a big fan of linear switches; I’ve always preferred tactile ones – you know, when you feel a bump when you press the key. But I thought, “Why not?” I figured, vielleicht macht es ja Spaß.

I spent ages looking on Amazon. I found the link: [Read More

I clicked on it, and I think… I think I’m going to order it! It’s super exciting, even if I’m a bit nervous. I’m going to take a look at the reviews again, just to be sure. Super! Ich schau mir das auch nochmal genau an.

Gaming or Not?

I told Lena that I mostly just needed it for gaming. I play a lot of League of Legends and Minecraft, so a responsive keyboard is important. She suggested I try the linear switch, saying “It’s so smooth!” I’m honestly a little skeptical, but hey, you never know.

I’m hoping this will make my writing feel a little smoother too, you know? Ich brauche eigentlich nur eine für den Gaming. Maybe this will help me write my essays for uni.

I’m really looking forward to it! Ich bin gespannt, wie sie ist. Maybe I’ll share my experience with you all later.
